Dear Friends,

We are getting closer to our XXVI Pan-American Regional Course in conjunction with Bascom Palmer’s XLIV Inter-American Course (CURSO) October 16-19, 2022 in Miami, FL. The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology (PAAO) would like to invite you to join us in Miami for the first joint CURSO and Pan-American regional course. Do not miss this wonderful opportunity to get together with your friends and colleagues in Miami to learn about the latest in clinical problems in ophthalmology.

The Joint XLIV Inter-American Course in Clinical Ophthalmology (CURSO) and XXVI Pan-American Regional Course is designed for practicing ophthalmologists in Latin America and the Caribbean, to provide maximum emphasis on practical approaches to clinical problems. The program will provide hundreds of ophthalmologists from across Latin America and the Caribbean benefit from the knowledge and expertise shared by the outstanding guest faculty, as well as the faculty from Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. In addition to the course material presented with simultaneous English-Spanish translation, more than 60 commercial exhibitors participate in an accompanying trade show. We look forward to seeing you this October in Miami!

The program directors are Eduardo C. Alfonso, MD, Guillermo Amescua, MD, Carol L. Karp, MD and Paul F. Palmberg, MD, PhD. Discussions will include all you wanted to know about Cataracts, Glaucoma, Retina, OCT, Cornea, Ocular Surface Diseases, Refractive Surgery, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Oculoplastics, Ocular Oncology, Uveitis, Neuro-ophthalmology, Telemedicine, and Electrophysiology. Guest speakers include J. Fernando Arevalo, MD, PhD, FACS, FASRS, Juan F. Batlle, MD, Miguel N. Burnier, Jr., MSc, PhD, FRCSC, FARVO, Paulo E.C. The PAOF continues to work tirelessly and supports the PAAO membership, particularly our junior/early-career members via various grants/awards, and opportunities through our Travel Awards, and scholarships. We are in the process of creating more opportunities for you as we speak. We hope that PAAO members will generously support the Foundation (https://paao.org/paof/donate/) throughout the year. No gift is small, donate what you can. The more gifts donated, the more support the Foundation can provide to PAAO programs.

Please remember, the goal is to meet again in addition to our XXVI Pan-American Regional Course in conjunction with Bascom Palmer’s XLIV Inter-American Course (CURSO) in Miami, FL, at our XXXV Pan-American Congress of Ophthalmology, March 17-20, 2023 in Buenos Aires Argentina! It’s at these two meetings where ophthalmology from all the Americas come together to meet and you cannot miss that!
