The Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology (“PAAO”) has created this privacy policy in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for www.paao.org and all other PAAO-affiliated websites (collectively, “website”).

General Principles

We only use information collected on the website for PAAO purposes.  We deploy technology to protect the information you send us.  Cookies are used to keep track of information to allow a better user experience and this information is kept confidential within the PAAO.

PAAO meetings, registrations and other transactions on network.paao.org

The website incorporates forms for members and other customers to request information, and to register on-line for various meetings and events. We collect visitors’ contact information (such as email addresses), financial information (such as accounts or credit card numbers), and demographic information (such as country, postal code, degree, age). Contact information from order forms or surveys is used to send orders and information about the PAAO to our members and other customers and to analyze website use. Financial information that is collected is used to bill the user for products and services. We do not store any financial information after the transaction.  Our website uses cookies to keep track of your ordering process.  We do not use many cookies but in the instances that we do the information is all anonymous.

Donations

If you make a donation to the Pan-American Ophthalmological Foundation we will add you to our list of donors on our website, in eVision and possibly our booth banners.  If you do not want your name used please contact [email protected].

The website contains links to other sites. In the event you choose to access such third-party websites, the PAAO and the website are not responsible for any actions or policies of such third parties. We recommend that you check the applicable privacy policy of third parties before providing personally identifiable information to it, as its privacy policy may differ from our website’s policies.

PAAO Email Privacy Policy

The PAAO endeavors to protect your email address from inappropriate use. The PAAO never shares email addresses. Users may opt-out of receiving future PAAO emails by emailing that request to [email protected].

Policies Governing the Use of PAAO Email Addresses

The PAAO’s President and Executive Director may send out emails on behalf of third parties if the email and organization meet the following criteria:

  • The PAAO determines if the use of email addresses is of benefit to its members and/or constituents.
  • The content of every email correspondence is subject to advance approval by the PAAO.
  • A sample of each intended email correspondence must be reviewed and approved by the PAAO.
  • An entity other than the PAAO cannot use PAAO email addresses to create or update its own database. The email address list is the property of the PAAO and may not be duplicated or retransmitted or resold to a third party.
  • PAAO email addresses will not be made available for any communication that, in the judgment of the PAAO, would tend to mislead, misinform, or deceive.

The website has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control.
