PAAO President’s Message

April 2023

Paulo E.C. Dantas, MD PhD
PAAO President, 2022-2025

Dear Pan-American friends,

Created 20 years ago by two first-class Pan-American researchers, Dr. Nicolas Bazan (USA) and Dr. Rubens Belfort Jr. (Brazil), Pan-American Research Day became a momentous event that brings together researchers from across the Americas to share their work, collaborate, and promote scientific advancements in the region. In addition, it is an opportunity to showcase the diverse research in fields ranging from medicine to technology and foster connections between researchers and institutions.

This year, we celebrated the 20th PARD anniversary. We had the immense pleasure of having both founders in the program, encouraging and supporting the next generation of researchers, which is crucial for advancing science and innovation. Young researchers bring fresh perspectives and new ideas to the table, and their contributions can help shape research’s future. In addition, providing opportunities for them to present their work and engage with their peers and mentors can be a valuable experience for their professional development.

The event was held at the state-of-the-art facility of Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, thanks to the partnership between PAAO and Louisiana State University and the active support of Prof. Nicholas and Haydee Bazan.

The 2023 Pan-American Research Day successfully promoted the importance of research and inspired young researchers to continue their pursuits in the field.

We look forward to the next PARD in Seattle in 2024! See you there!

Sincerely,

Paulo E.C. Dantas, MD PhD
