PAAO President’s Message

December 2019

Dear Friends & Colleagues,
“I will honor the holidays in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.” – Charles Dickens
The year 2019 which is about to end was a memorable one for the PAAO. This great success should be totally attributed to the incredible work of the Executive Committee and the pillars at the Executive Office, in particular, Teresa Bradshaw & Terri Grassi. Without them, these achievements certainly could not be possible. Memories of 2019 are remarkable, including PARD in Vancouver, PAAO Congress in Cancun, all the planning and actions taken after AAO in San Francisco. The weekly phone calls every Monday are the greatest way we found to keep us together and close to each other. With that thought in mind, the holidays also represent a time to bring us together as family and friends. It is a special time of the year either winter or summer, depending which region of the PAAO you live, but the feeling is the same: the renew of longtime love and friendship, as well as to make new ones. The only reason we all dedicate a great deal of time and effort to the projects of the PAAO is you; the PAAO member, our only reason to do so. Happy holidays, all the best and a great 2020 – the year of Ophthalmology! With affection and admiration,   Miguel N Burnier Jr, MD, MSc, Ph.D., FRCSC PAAO President
