BASIC INFORMATION AND SELECTION PROCEDURE
I. OPENING AND CLOSING OF THE COURSE:
The “Dr. Guillermo Picó Santiago” Basic Sciences Course in Ophthalmology of the Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico, will take place in person once again from January 30 through March 10, 2023. The lectures will be held Monday through Friday of each week. There will be eight (8) of lectures per day with an interval between them, total of 216 hours of lecture. The course is sponsored by the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology and the University of Puerto Rico.
II. STUDENTS:
The curriculum is designed for first and second year residents of Ophthalmology. For almost two months the fundamentals of the science and art of ophthalmology are taught in a systematic and organized manner. The course delves into fundamental sciences such as optics, ocular physiology and embryology and other basic disciplines, and then moves on to the fundamental concepts of general ophthalmology, with sections on pathology, ocular pediatrics, external diseases and cornea, glaucoma, retina, uveitis, cataract, neuro-ophthalmology, orbit and plastic surgery. Everything is taught by local and visiting professors, internationally recognized as experts. III. OBLIGATIONS:
All participants must make the following payments in U.S. dollars: Tuition University of Puerto Rico: $505.00; Course registration fee: $995. Contact Stephanie Miranda Rodriguez for the payment authorization form to pay the registration fee using your credit card.
IV. CERTIFICATION:
At the end of the course, participants who have documented their attendance will receive a Diploma or certificate of participation.
