Enrique Graue Wiechers Award for Transformational Leadership
Dr. Eduardo Alfonso of Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida USA, received the first Enrique Graue Wiechers Award for Transformational Leadership at the Pan-American Congress in Cancun, Mexico.
The Enrique Graue Wiechers Award for Transformational Leadership recognizes ophthalmologists who, through a trajectory of several years of leadership, have been key in the creation or transformation of ophthalmological institutions, hospitals, associations.
J. Fernando Arévalo
Young Ophthalmologist Award
Dr. Roberto Gallego-Pinazo (Spain) was the recipient of the first J. Fernando Arévalo Young Ophthalmologist Award presented in Cancun, Mexico, May 2019.
Dr. Gallego-Pinazo exemplifies the requirements for the award: he has published extensively, is co-founder of the Spanish Macula Club, co-director of The Best of the Academy in Spanish meeting, active member of PACORES, Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and the European University in Madrid and a graduate of the PAAO Leadership Course.
Liana & Marcelo Ventura International Fellowship in Pediatric Retina Award
Dr. Dhariana Acon Ramirez (Costa Rica) is the first to receive the Liana & Marcelo Ventura International Fellowship in Pediatric Retina Award. Dr. Acon Ramirez will be at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida, under the direction of Dr. Audina Berrocal.
