NEI meets with PAAO and other Global Eye Health Organizations
On March 4, 2022, The National Eye Institute (NEI) held a landmark meeting with the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology and other global eye health organizations (including ARVO, AAO, ICO, IAPB, APAO). The virtual meeting offered the opportunity for NEI to review it’s new strategic plan and for organizations like PAAO to discuss joint opportunities in education, research and prevention of blindness.
The PAAO was represented by Dr. Miguel Burnier Jr., PAAO President. In attendance were Dr. Fernando Arevalo, PAOF Chair and Past PAAO President; Dr. Paulo Dantas, PAAO President-Elect; Dr. Carol Karp, PAAO Secretary-Treasurer, English Language Region.
