Pan-American Research Day
The Power of the Pan-American NetworkPan-American Research Day
(PARD)
Everyone presenting at ARVO is invited to share their research in a quick 5 minute format. This popular event will bring you up to speed on all the latest research in one day.
In an effort to stimulate research at the Pan-American level and recognize the efforts of our young investigators, the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology (PAAO) has been organizing the Pan-American Research Day (PARD), in conjunction with the important partnerships with the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) and with Allergan Latin America, for the past several years and it has become an exciting tradition.
- There is no entrance fee for this event: it is free! Even though there is no entrance fee, it is necessary to register for this meeting so we may prepare your name badge and program materials.
- If you have had a presentation accepted by ARVO, we would like to offer you the possibility to present your work at our Pan-American Research Day meeting. The PAAO will feature two rooms for presentations: anterior and posterior segment papers. Offering two rooms will double your chances to be able to present your work. Due to the popularity of this event, we always receive more requests to present than there are time slots available, so there is a review and selection process. If you are selected to be a program participant, you will be presenting your work in a speed presentation format: three minutes for presentation and two minutes for discussion. The language for presentation is English. This is an excellent place to practice your presentation skills in English in front of a friendly audience. Submission deadline to participate in the program is March 15.
- The PAAO offers travel awards or scholarships every year. Last year a total of six (6) awards, in the amount of $250 each, were be presented. PARD organizers review presentations during the meeting and awardees are selected based on their topic, presentation and age (under 40 years). If you have previously received an award from the Pan-American, you do not qualify for a PARD Award. Remember, one award per person. If you have already received a travel award from ARVO or PAAO to attend this meeting, you do not qualify for a PARD award. Please see the link for all the rules and restrictions. You must be present to win.
Mark your calendar to plan to go one day early to attend/participate! This is a free event! We hope that you will partake in this opportunity to share your work and experience.
