Tribute Program

Dra. Liana VenturaThe Tribute Program is a nice way to honor and recognize the special individual, institution, family or memory you have consistently admired. It can be to honor a birthday, an anniversary, service recognition, in memoriam, retirement, or special occasions you want to celebrate at any time, at your convenience. Simple as that but great in appreciation and gratitude.

The Tribute Program Recognition starts with a minimum donation of US$500. You define the amount to celebrate your Honoree. You can also donate as many times and to as many honorees you want. It can be a one time donation as well. You choose the conveniences and the PAOF will honor your terms.

Should you decide to make a Tribute donation, the PAOF will immediately send an acknowledgement letter to you the donor. A Tribute Card will be sent to the honoree, his/her legal representative, family or institution upon your permission with no mention of the amount donated. All honorees will be part of the Digital “Wall of Honorees” with picture and biography. Upon donation honoree and donor will have their names and pictures published in our eVision digital newsletter.

If you are considering to join the Tribute Program, kindly do not hesitate to contact us at 817-275-7553 or at milena.razack@paao.org. Milena will walk you through the program and will assist you to define your terms.

Your support to PAAO and PAOF is very much appreciated. The Tribute Program is a unique program for individuals, families, institutions and memories to honor our heroes and recognize their accomplishments.

Marilyn Miller MD

"The Ventura Family is pleased to make a Tribute in honor of Marilyn T. Miller, MD, for the exceptional service and contributions she has made to society. For more than 53 years, Dr. Miller has been actively improving education and research in the field of Pediatric Ophthalmology. Through her exemplary leadership, personal commitment, integrity and dedicated service, her practices and programs have become the standards of care in international ophthalmology. In 2001, Dr. Marilyn Miller served as a mentor to Dr. Liana Ventura as she completed her PhD thesis. Dr. Miller’s academic knowledge, passion for Ophthalmology and commitment as an educator have served as an inspiration. Her deep knowledge and commitment has had a profound educational and scientific impact around the world. In 2005, her pioneer study on specific congenital syndromes related to teratogens inspired the implementation of the Center of Rehabilitation for Multiple Disabilities “Menina dos Olhos” of the Foundation Altino Ventura. This Foundation has been offering outstanding treatment for over 2,000 patients per year. These include children and adults with visual, hearing, physical and cognitive impairments. The Ventura family is proud to share the accomplishments that reflect the tremendous impact of Dr Miller’s leadership to our society, leaving a legacy to be followed by the next generations of ophthalmologists."

Dr. Jose Berrocal

José Berrocal MD

"Dr Jose Berrocal visionary and innovative international leadership in ophthalmology, his dedication to continuing education and pursuit of excellence in clinical care for his patients was exemplar and have made him a role model to us. He gave us opportunities of education that have changed our lives. In 1985 Marcelo and I came to Puerto Rico, Marcelo did a fellowship in cataract and retina with Dr Berrocal and I did a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and strabismus at the University of San Juan. We were so inspired by our experiences, that upon our return to Brazil we founded the Altino Ventura Foundation. The mission of the Foundation was to elevate the field of Ophthalmology through the education of others and to offer quality services in blindness prevention and rehabilitation to the low income population. In the last 31 years, we have educated 491 doctors from all countries of Latin America, Brazil and Angola. We have done over 13 million procedures to diagnose and treat patients, including an underserved population of children and adults with visual, hearing, physical and cognitive impairments. We are proud to share this remarks which have had tremendous impact on our countries because Dr Berrocal’s legacy lives on through the work of others."
