You are all welcome to the 31º Lo Mejor de la Academia en Español 2017 (31st The Best of the Academy in Spanish 2017). The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) meeting will conclude on Tuesday, with Lo Mejor de la Academia being held on Wednesday, Nov. 15 from 8 am to 5:30 pm in New Orleans, LA at Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
As you all know, to travel to the AAO meeting is a huge investment of time and money coming from Latin America. However, it is not possible to learn everything that the AAO has to offer during the week including the Subspecialty Day in 7 different simultaneous disciplines: Cornea, Glaucoma, Neuro-ophthalmology, Oculoplastics, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Refractive Surgery, and Retina. Therefore, we have assembled a selected group of more than 30 panelists (experts in their fields) that will give us a summary of all the subspecialty days, symposiums, courses, papers, and posters discussed in their subspecialties during the meeting in our own language (Spanish)!! There is no easier way to learn Ophthalmology in a comprehensive way.
This year, as usual, the program will be directed by J. Fernando Arévalo, MD (USA), and we welcome two new co-directors Enrique Graue-Hernandez, MD (Mexico), and Roberto Gallego-Pinazo, MD (Spain). Their input, new blood, and enthusiasm coupled with the more than 20 years that Dr. Arévalo has served as a panelists/organizer will make the program more and more interesting every year.
